Episode 3 Game 2

Doug: CY$5000 in this game. Deo, need to get on the board, here. Remember, CY$2000, CY$3000 and "double pot" are hiding up there on the double decision board in addition to "lose loss".
Round 4 starts with this query.
The ukulele or the balalaika. Which musical instrument is of Russian origin?
Doug: Deo.
Deo: Balalaika!
Doug: That right! (audience applause) You've got a lot of ground to make up. Let's start you off with a free roll.

Doug: And it's three and a six for a start of CY$900 and...
(Deo rolls immediately)

Doug: ...he couldn't wait for the dice to come back. One and a two for CY$1200 and...
(Deo rolls immediately)

Doug: ...what's the deal, got a plane to catch? (audience laughs) Another 6-3 roll. Pot's up to CY$2100 quickly. Bank or roll?
Deo: Roll!

Doug: Ouch! Three and four bust you out. Man alive, Eddie was having all sorts of rotten luck the last game. Now's it's Deo running into busts.
Round 5 starting now. Anything can still happen. Next question
Aces and eights, sixes and nines -- or tens and threes. According to legend, which pairs of cards were part of Wild Bill Hickok's so-called "dead man's hand"?
Doug: Eddie.
Eddie: Aces and eights.
Doug: That's right. (audience applause) Ya know, over on Net Poker, I'm glad we don't have anything lower than a nine. (audience laughs) Free roll, Eddie.

Doug: And you start with a three and a six. CY$900 in the pot. You have CY$5000 in your bank, Deo's yet to score. What say ye?
(audience shouts suggestions)
Eddie: Since I've got a nice lead, I'm going to roll and see if I can get to the Double D board again.
(a few snickers from the crowd)

Doug: (to crowd) Get your mind out of the gutter! (a few laughs from the crowd) Eddie, you rolled a 1 and a 5. Pot's up to 1500. Bank the 15 bills or roll for more thrills?
(audience shouts suggestions)
Eddie: Let's try it again.

Doug: Ah ha! Chance to go to the double *decision* board. (audience laughs) Eddie, you rolled double 2. That means we could add CY$400 to the pot -- or you may take what's hiding in the double 2 screen on the board.
Could be something a lot better or a lot worse than CY$400.
(audience shouts suggestions)
Eddie: That's was I was shooting for. Let's see the board.
Doug: Going to the double 2 screen. Could be a lose loss -- which would really help you out. What's there?

Doug: Double pot! WOW! In essence we add another CY$1500. You now have CY$3000 in the pot. Let's shuffle the board.

Doug: Now, you have three large in the pot. Want to try to double it all or bank it all?
Eddie: To the bank, please.
Doug: Another CY$3000 in your bank.

Doug: Eddie likes the round numbers. Now up to CY$8000. Deo, keep the faith. Anything can still happen. Round 6 starts with this question.
Drugs, pedophilia or infidelity. In a 2011 interview with ABC News' "Nightline", what did Corey Feldman say is the number one problem in Hollywood?
Doug: Deo.
Deo: Drugs???
Doug: That would've been my answer, too. But Corey says pedophilia is the biggest problem in Hollywood. Eddie, that means the dice are yours for a free roll.

(scattered cheers)
Doug: And a great free roll -- 6 and 4 for CY$1000.
Eddie, no matter how much distance you put between you and Deo, he'll get one roll to try and catch up to you. By then, one surprise on the double decision board will allow him to tie the score; another will erase the loss that's against him -- only to be replaced with a new loss.
One way or another, it's possible for Deo to stay in business. With that said -- bank the grand or take the dice again in hand?
(audience shouts suggestions)
Eddie: I think I'll put the grand in the bank.
Doug: Another CY$1000 in your coffers.
![]()
Doug: Wow -- CY$9000. Most anyone's won in a main game in our young history of Hot Dice.
Now it's catch-up time. For that, we have to shuffle the double decision board.

Doug: Deo, as promised, a "tie the leader" surprise is waiting to be found up there. "Lose loss" is still there -- which, in effect, will give you a golden ticket to the next episode.
As you know, you get one roll of the dice. Anything but a 7 or a double means you immediately bank the sum of the dice roll in hundreds of cyber-dollars. The only thing that can help you is a double -- then we default to the double decision board and see what awaits.
Good luck, Deo.

Doug: The Lawrence Welk roll. A 1 and a 2. You bank 300. Obviously not enough. Eddie wins.
![]()
Doug: Wow, this episode was literally a tale of two games. Lady Luck was on Deo's side in the earlier game. And in this one, clearly, Eddie became the victor.
Eddie, stand by, we'll play the Bonus Bonanza in a bit. Deo, we have to say goodbye. But we send you out the door with CY$300 added to you prior winnings. Grand total adds up to a nice piece of change -- CY$16,350.

Doug: Congratulations, Deo, and thanks for playing Hot Dice. Eddie, you're headed back to the Bonus Bonanza -- right after this.
(commercial cue plays; audience applause)
HOT DICE CONTINUES
