Audience Game All right, friends, let's cap off another episode with The Jackpot Game. For this one, we're reverting to our previous format of seven-card high-low. Here, we spot you cyber-money and you'll have to bet at least half of it is higher or lower that the card positioned before it.
To play, please e-mail a cut number from 0 to 51 inclusive by Sunday at 9:00pm EDT/8:00pm CDT. The player closest to our randomly selected number, also from 0 to 51 inclusive, gets to play.
(time passes)
And that's time. What was our lucky number?

Lucky 13. Who's the closest?
Barry Brooks 15It's Barry going for more than 20-grand -- after this.
====================================================================== Scarlett: It's happening again -- 24 hours, 24 games and no sleep. What's different are the people and the coast. D.J.: Home Game Enterprizes presents the 24 Hour Game Show Marathon West -- starting August 31 at Noon Pacific Time. Doug: The proceeds are benefiting the American Cancer Society. Visit http://homegameenterprizes.com/strategicon.html for more details and find out how you can donate. ======================================================================Doug: We're back on Hot Dice. During the break, Barry Brooks was selected to play The Jackpot Game. And, Barry, here's what's waiting to be won in the jackpot.
(theme to the game show version of "Monopoly" plays; Scarlett starts reading the copy after the male and female vocalist spell "M-ohhh-N-ohhh-P-O-L-Y" the second time)
Scarlett: Yes, Monopoly, the world's most famous board game, is now the focus of tonight's jackpot. And it starts with this mint collector's edition Monopoly game. (audience applause) It comes complete with silver- and gold-plated tokens, a portfolio to help keep track of your holdings in the game and designer play money.
Next, we're sending you to the city where it all started -- Atlantic City, New Jersey. (audience cheers) You and a companion will fly round trip coach to Atlantic City for a six-night stay at a luxury hotel on the legendary Boardwalk. Oh, and don't worry about the two-grand in rent. We've got that covered.
Finally, speaking of fundage, here's CY$20,580 -- to make this free parking jackpot worth CY$27,850.

Doug: That *and* more will be yours if you can meet or exceed tonight's goal. And that goal is...

Doug: ...wow, a big one -- CY$7200. Now, let's spot you CY$500.

Doug: As you know, Barry, we had you cut a deck of 52 playing cards during the break. We took the top seven cards from that deck -- and placed them accordingly behind the letters in the word "jackpot".
We'll reveal the card behind the J -- and then you'll wager whether the next card down the line is higher or lower. You'll repeat the process all the way across the board until you reach the goal of CY$7200 -- or it's mathematically impossible to attain that goal.
Keep in mind you must bet at least have the cyber-money -- and you have to wager in increments of CY$25.
Now, since that's a rather sizable goal, I'll give you one chance to quadruple your current score to CY$2000 -- if you can predict the suit of the first card on the board.
Barry: Let's go with Diamonds!
Doug: Going with Diamonds. Good start?

Doug: Yes! Oh that's great news. Even better news? Aces are high and twos are low. *And* in case of a tie card -- you'll win the bet.
So -- *of course* you want to go all in lower, right?

Doug: Right! Now -- quickly you're up to CY$4000 but the six is a little tricky. You must wager at least CY$2000 that the next card down the line is higher or lower.
Barry: Awesome start! I'll play it safe with the six and wager CY$2025 that the next card is higher!
Doug: Betting a little higher than the minimum higher. Flip it over, fellers.

(ding) (mix of groans and cheers)
Doug: It's an 8 -- and up the middle. Now, since the bet has to be in multiplies of 25, you must wager 3025 the next card's higher or lower than the 8.
Barry: Come on cards...an 8? Alright, I can still do this. Let's wager CY$3150, the next card is gonna be HIGHER!
Doug: All right, if it is higher, you'll surpass the goal -- but have a decision to make. What's that next card?

Doug: Another 8. Tie card wins the bet. You've excceded the goal.
But wait -- there's more -- or is there? Barry, you may stop right now, keep the CY$9175 and take the jackpot of more than CY$27,000 with you -- or play the next card.
If you decide to play on -- you have to wager at least CY$4600 on the next card being higher or lower than the 8 of Spades. So what do you do?
(audience shouts suggestions)
Barry: These cards are tough! I'll keep going -- (audience gasps) -- and wager CY$5050 that the next card is higher!
Doug: Ummm -- OK. Let the record show I offered him a chance to stop. CY$5050 higher.

Doug: Woah! An Ace, thankfully, saves the day. The better news, you can go all in lower on the next card down the line. Tie cards would pay as we saw earlier.

Doug: And you double up to CY$28,450. Now...
(Doug puts his arm around Barry) (audience laughs)
Doug: ...Barry -- you have the jackpot in hand. You don't *have* to play on. But if you want to finish out, you must wager CY$14,225 that the next card is higher or lower than a 6.
Whatever you do -- don't do something crazy!
(more laughs) (audience shouts suggestions)
(time passes) (buzz buzz)
Doug: OK -- no decision in time. We'll *have* to take that as a stop -- which is actually a good thing -- as we crunch some big numbers.
CY$28,450 -- roughly four times the goal. The jackpot of more than 27-grand in cash and prizes is yours. All totaled...

Doug: ...CY$56,300. Now when The Jackpot Game was part of another show we did, the record score, including the then jackpot, was CY$66,350. So, Barry, second highest score for you. Congratulations.
Doug: Friends, until next time, make it a great day, keep the faith and treasure your loved ones.
(audience applause; closing theme plays; credits roll)
[NOTE FROM DOUG: As announced earlier, the netgames group on Yahoo! is closing its doors at year's end. The next episode of Hot Dice will be the finale in its current form. Michael Clifford will play against one challenger -- and they'll play just one main game.
The winner of that main game will play the CY$1,000,000 version of our bonus round. The runner-up will play the Bonus Bonanza as if (s)he won three straight games. Both endgames will be structured to where no one leaves the dice table empty-handed.
Thanks for your support.
Oh, and in case anyone wondered, the last card on the board was the 3 of Hearts.]
