Episode 10 Game 2

(Michael rolls)

Doug: Is there a black cat in the studio? (audience laughs)

Doug: Fifth round starts now and we *still* have a scoreless tie. At least our accountant will sleep soundly tonight. (audience laughs) Sure I say that and watch the winner of this next question find three large on the doubles board.

(more laughs)

Doug: In any event, players, seriously, good luck, try and relax, play carefully and here we go with the next question.

Bert Convy, Richard Dawson and Jack Kelly were actors and hosted game shows in real life. But in the movie of the same name, who hosted the fictional sadistic game show "The Running Man"?

(Michael buzzes in)

Doug: Michael.

Michael: Richard Dawson

Doug: Survey said -- (ding) -- you're right. (audience applause) Free roll to start you off.

(Michael rolls)

Doug: Ada from Decatur. Double 4 -- but no double decision to make on on the free roll. Wanna bank 800 or dare to risk it all?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Michael: I'm gonna risk it all. Come on 7!

(audience laughs)

(Michael rolls)

Doug: Well -- a 5 -- good here but a bust in the bonus game. Michael, you're up to a lucky CY$1300. Bank the 1300 or roll 'em again?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Michael: I didn't think that would work. I'll roll 'em again. Let's get a 7! (audience laughs)

(Michael rolls)

Doug: Now for a real test of that reverse psychology. Michael, would you like for us to add CY$400 to the pot...

Doug: ...or would you like to take what's hiding in the double 2 screen on the board?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Michael: I'll go for what's behind the board. Come on "Bust"!

(audience laughs)

Doug: Applying this to the doubles board, I see. Well -- at the rate we've been going, "lose loss" is looking really good about now. Let's see what's in the double 2 screen.

(ding) (audience groans)

Doug: Well -- CY$50. At least you're not wiped out. Let's shuffle the board again.

(amounts are shuffled on the double decision board; after shuffling stops, the amounts are covered immediately with the doubles)

Doug: Well, we're now up to 1350 in the pot. What do you think -- bank 'em or roll 'em?

(audience shouts suggestions)

Michael: Roll 'em one more time. Seven, seven, seven!

(audience laughs)

(Michael rolls)

Doug: Moral of the story -- be careful what you ask for -- because you *just* might get it.

(audience laughs)

Doug: Before we start Round 6, I'm going to make an executive decision. Fellers, please add CY$50 to each bank.

(ding)

Doug: Because in the event the winner of this next question busts out -- we'd go to a tie-breaker. And I don't want the runner-up of this memorable game to go home penniless. Memorable, of course, for all the wrong reasons.

(audience laughs)

Doug: Seriously -- good luck -- play carefully and here we go with the Round 6 question.

Is more or less than 90% of your body composed of water?

(Nikolai buzzes in)

Doug: Nikolai.

Nikolai: Less

Doug: That's right. (audience applause) Closer to 80% -- that's how much of your body is made up of water. Take your free roll, please.

(Nikolai rolls)

Doug: OK, an 8 for CY$800. Now, Nikolai, out of *some* goodness of our hearts, the score is tied at CY$50 and we're in Round 6.

If you bust in this round, we finish the game with a tie-breaker question. If you bank anything, we play the catch-up round. Regardless of how much you bank, there will always be at least one way Michael can catch up to you.

So -- wanna bank 800 or tempt fate and roll again?

(audience shouts suggestions)

(time passes)

Doug: Nikolai?

(buzz buzz) (audience groans)

Doug: No decision in time. Unfortunately, that means...

Doug: ...an instant bust.

Doug: After six rounds, we're tied. That means the catch-up round is canceled and we go to a tie-breaker question.

This question plays like a normal question -- except that it's not worth a free roll of the dice. It's worth an instant CY$50 and the game.

Chime in with the right answer -- and you win. Be careful -- because if you buzz in with a wrong answer, the CY$50 and the game automatically go to your opponent.

Here we go with the tie-breaking question.

As the title implies, The Kentucky Derby is held in the state of Kentucky. Which state is home to the Belmont Stakes; is it New York or Maryland?

(Michael buzzes in)

Doug: Michael for the game.

Michael: New York

Doug: That's right -- you win!

(dings; audience applause)

Doug: Man alive -- the final score is 100 to 50. Michael, we'll get you set for the Bonus Bonanza in a bit.

Nikolai, the clock finally struck midnight. But you are leaving here with a great chunk of change. Our new top winner in Hot Dice history is Nikolai Wataja with CY$107,900.

(audience cheers)

Doug: Michael could win CY$50,000 -- and maybe double *that* to CY$100,000 in the Bonus Bonanza right after this.
