Audience Game

All right, as alluded to earlier, we don't have time to play The Jackpot Game. The intended jackpot of prizes goes to the next show.

Meantime, we'll play for the car that went unclaimed in an audience game we call Bullseye (which, before you ask, has no resemblance to the Barry & Enright Production, the legendary UK darts/quiz game, the "Family Feud" element or the pricing game from TPiR). Some notes before we play...

\ In an effort to spread the virtual wealth, please sit on your hands if you were a main or audience game player in this episode.

\ We're in a bit of a time crunch -- so I reserve the right to end qualifying early if someone locks in the actual answer to the qualifying question.

...so with all that said, here's the qualifying question. Player closest to the right answer, high or low, plays Bullseye.

On May 22, 2010, at 9:00am Central, we watched a GSN rerun of "Chain Reaction", hosted by Dylan Lane. When this episode's main game ended, the men's team won. What was the margin of victory? Please respond in hundreds of dollars.

Let's make the answers due Wednesday at 9:00pm EDT/8:00pm CDT.

(time passes)

All right, let's get right to the answer, please.

(ding)

Final score was 1900 for the men, 1200 for the ladies. Difference was 700. Who's the closest?

Melanie Ball $1000

It's Melanie playing for the car after this.

("Greed" theme plays)

Voice guy: Do you feel the need for greed? Net Greed with Brendan
O'Keefe. Only VBS.

Doug: Welcome back. We're working against the clock. Melanie Ball's here playing Bullseye for that new Kia Soul we talked about earlier plus a CY$10,000 gas card. Grand total of CY$27,850.

Doug: Here's how Bullseye works. We've hidden a bullseye behind one of those six numbered spaces -- and it's up to you to uncover that bullseye.

We'll give you a maximum of five rolls of a single dice cube. If you roll the number that hides the bullseye, the car and the gas card are yours. If not, try again -- and keep trying 'til you hit the bullseye or you run out of rolls.

Good luck -- and give it a roll, please.

(Melanie rolls)

Doug: And she starts with a 4. Is the bullseye there?

(buzz) (a few groans)

Doug: No. Now, if you roll another 4, that counts as a wasted roll. Roll again, please.

(Melanie rolls)

Doug: Got a 2. Does Melanie hit the bullseye with 2?

(buzz) (a few groans)

Doug: Darn. Three rolls left. All it takes is one roll.

(Melanie rolls)

(buzz) (a few groans)

Doug: Well -- we know that's a no. Two chances left.

(Melanie rolls)

Doug: A 5. Does she win with a puppy paw?

(buzz) (a few groans)

Doug: No. Down to your last roll. You've got to hope you roll a 1, 3 or 6 -- and hope that number you roll has the bullseye.

(Melanie rolls)

(strike buzzer; audience groans; BB87 loss cue)

Doug: And another 4. Sorry about that. Where was the bullseye?

Doug: Number 6. Well, Melanie, we can't give you the car -- but we can turn negatives into positives. We'll pay you CY$250 for each "no" that turned over. So you got CY$750. (audience applause) Not bad for a few minutes at the dice table.

Next time we get together, Nikolai Wataja rolls for CY$50,000 or possibly more. 'Til then, make it a great day, keep the faith and treasure your loved ones.

(credits roll; audience applauds; closing theme plays)
