Episode 9 Game 2

Doug: All right -- closer game as we commence Round 5.
Peter Falk, Telly Savalas or Ving Rhames. Who did *not* play the TV title role of "Kojak"?
Doug: Joseph.
Joseph: Peter Falk?
Doug: Good guess, you're right. (audience applause) Telly Savalas was best known as Kojak. Ving Rhames was Kojak in a short-lived series revival. Peter Falk, by the way, was Lt. Columbo. Joseph, free roll for you.

(scattered groans)
Doug: And -- uh -- yeah -- three for 300. Joseph, I have to ask -- bank CY$300 or roll again?
(audience shouts suggestions)
Joseph: I'll roll 'em again. Come on, puppy paws!

Doug: Got one puppy paw and a deuce. Sorry -- but that's a bust.
And with that, we're at Round 6. Unless Joseph banks exactly CY$1200, the catch-up round follows this one to determine our winner. Crucial question.
She starred in the Broadway version, she starred in the movie version or she starred in both versions. How is Linda Ronstadt associated with "The Pirates of Penzance"?
Doug: Nikolai.
Nikolai: Both.
Doug: That's right. (audience applause) Dice are hot for your free roll, Nikolai.

Doug: And you start with a 5 for 500. Nikolai, no matter how much distance you put between yourself and Joseph, there will always be at least one way for him to catch up in the catch up round.
With that said -- bank 'em or risk 'em?
(audience shouts suggestions)
Nikolai: I'll give it one more roll for sure.

Doug: Well -- it's not the "one more" you had in mind, I'm sure.

Doug: With that, the catch-up round starts now. Ironically, Nikolai was *down* by 1200 going into the last catch-up round. Now, it's Joseph who's trailing
And Joseph, since you're trailing, you'll start. You get one roll of the dice and one roll only. If necessary, Nikolai will roll the dice once.
As you know from earlier, in the catch-up round, there's no free roll and no pot to build. The value of the roll is immediately added to your bank.
We shuffle in some new elements on the double decision board now.

Doug: On the board, one screen will double your score, another gives you cyber-money and an extra roll.
Remember, if you roll a 7, that's a bust. You won't lose anything -- but you won't win anything either.
Joseph, simply put, you need a double to stay in business. A roll of 12 will result in actually choosing between banking 1200 or taking the double 6 screen. Any other double will default to that screen. Anything else -- and Nikolai wins.

Doug: It's a 9. Close -- but not close enough. Nikolai wins.

Doug: Congratulations, Nikolai. We'll tell you where we go from here.
Joseph, we hope you had fun playing our game. The 9 you rolled does add CY$900 to your bank for a final score here of CY$3200. We add that to your previous winnings for a grand total of...

Doug: ...CY$9100. (audience cheers) And, unfortunately, this is the second loss -- so we must say a fond farewell. We also have some fine gifts waiting for you backstage. One more time, a nice hand for Joseph Bohan.
Doug: Nikolai, I have good and bad news. The good news is you've won another game and a grand total of CY$83,550. (more cheers) Now the bad news -- we don't have adequate time to play the Bonus Bonanza.
Doug: So, on our next show, the first order of business will be playing that Bonus Bonanza. And who know how much you'll take from us then?
Now, for the audience, the clock on the wall says we have a little bit of time for an audience game. We're not gonna play The Jackpot Game -- but we will be playing for the car we tried to give away earlier. (audience cheers) We'll try to give it away -- after this.
